Vodafone: Global Supply Chain Visibility

Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS)

Operational Strategies for a Global Supply Chain

EMSs are expanding their portfolio of services and implementing operational strategies to deal with increased demand uncertainty and managing liability. They are increasingly implementing the following supply chain initiatives to achieve their objectives:

  • Supplier Collaboration:
EMSs must be able to respond to and manage additional customer demand, customer demand changes, and customer cancellations by efficiently managing supply. This requires tighter integration of their global supply chain and automation of critical processes.
  • Lean Demand-Driven:
EMSs are transforming their supply chains to increase operational flexibility in order to respond faster to changes in demand resulting in more complex supply chain processes which must be managed effectively.
  • Globalization:
EMSs are continuing to take advantage of size and scope by centralizing or combining functions across multiple business units or geographies requiring a higher degree of business integration.
