In this video, Simon Abboud, partner at Goikid Consulting, explains why supply chain transformation depends on more than technology. Goikid is a management consulting boutique and 15-year e2open partner that helps customers build the strategy, processes, and operating model needed to get full value from their technology investment. Abboud walks through how Goikid and e2open work together, and shares examples of the transformation projects the partnership has delivered.

Technology is rarely the silver bullet companies expect it to be

Many companies invest in new supply chain technology expecting it to solve their problems on its own. Simon Abboud, partner at Goikid Consulting, says that's rarely how transformation works. Technology is only one part of the equation.

Abboud breaks transformation into three parts: software, hardware, and what he calls “people-ware” — the processes, skills, and operating model that put the first two to work. e2open focuses on the software and technical capability. Goikid focuses on people-ware, the part of transformation companies most often underestimate.

Software – the technology platform and its capabilities

Hardware – the infrastructure that supports day-to-day operations

People-ware – the processes, skills, and operating model that put the first two to work

Without that third piece, even the strongest technology investment struggles to deliver its full value.

A two-way partnership built on strategy, not just software

Goikid has partnered with e2open for 15 years, helping customers navigate transformation from a business standpoint rather than a purely technical one. The firm develops a customer's strategic roadmap, identifies the business case for change, and defines the processes and operating model needed to sustain it. That work also raises the technology-adoption maturity of e2open's customers, helping them get more value from solutions they've already invested in.

Depending on a customer's needs, Goikid draws on different parts of e2open's network to support:

  • Shifts to a direct-to-market commercial strategy

  • Redefining distribution channel strategy and operations

  • Supply collaboration models that change how a company works with its suppliers

What's ahead:
Why e2open's network is a fit for the long term

Goikid doesn't run its own supply chain — its business is supporting customers' supply chain visions, which is why Abboud says the firm leans on the strength of e2open's network rather than a single point solution. That network, he says, is what sets e2open apart from other platforms in the market. It's also behind the two companies' 15-year relationship: one where each side challenges the other to find the best answer for the customer, even on complex, high-stakes programs.
