Intern Spotlight

As an organization, we always have an eye on the future and all the possibilities it holds. The e2open internship program focuses on finding, training, and developing the next generation of promising students and graduates interested in our industry. During their time with e2open, we hope that they will not only learn from us but also contribute to our growth and success. With that in mind, we would like to introduce Claire Mistele, who is completing her summer internship with the e2open Marketing Communications team. You can learn more about Claire below.

Q: What college are you currently attending?

A: University of Wisconsion-LaCrosse.

Q: Why did you choose e2open for your internship?

A: I am currently in a Production and Operations Management course at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and I have been very engaged in the content and how the supply chain plays a role in every aspect of business. Due to my interest surrounding this topic and the opportunities that e2open offers, I knew right away that I wanted the chance to be a marketing intern at e2open and expand my knowledge in this area of business.

Q: What’s one thing you can’t live without?

A: I could not survive without ice cream, especially custard-style sundaes.

Q: What hashtags would you use to describe your personality?

A: #energetic #friendly #hardworking #helpful #reliable

Q:  What are your hobbies?

A: I love spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking/staying active/working out, and trying new restaurants and coffee shops.

Q: Do you have any pets? If so, what are they, and what are their names?

A: I have a dog named Jameson (Jamo for short). He is a bichon shih tzu, also known as a teddy bear.

Q: What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?

A: When Wisconsin weather permits, I love going for a walk or a hike. I also enjoy going to the gym or spending time with family and friends.

Q: What is your definition of success?

A: To me, success is a process of setting short-term and long-term goals to achieve growth in areas that could use improvement. There may be difficulties in reaching those goals, but success can only be achieved by adapting to problems and pushing through. There is always a never-ending streak of goals; new goals replace old ones as new situations arise. Success is something that you should always strive for, and you must take the little victories to boost yourself to the larger ones.

Q: If you could give career advice to your younger self, what would it be?

A: If I could give career advice to my younger self, I would tell them to step out of their comfort zone and meet new people. Today, I enjoy meeting new people and creating relationships. However, years ago, I was shyer and less likely to engage with individuals I didn’t know. Finding connections and meeting people has helped me in so many ways and led me to where I am today.

E2open is a talent-driven company, and we know that upcoming generations will build upon our work and help us to shape the transformation of the supply chain. We are excited to have Claire as part of our marketing team, and we look forward to watching her grow now and in her future career.

The Metrics Behind the Metrics: Why Conformance Drives Performance

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tell us where we succeeded. However, it is Key Conformance Indicators (KCIs) that determine whether success is repeatable.  Let’s talk about something everyone can relate to—chocolate chip cookies. I love my mother’s cookies. They’ve been a family staple for years, and in my (entirely unbiased) opinion, they’re perfect. They look beautiful and taste even better. But that perfection isn’t by chance. She’s spent years fine-tuning her recipe. She measures every ingredient precisely, chills the dough (an uncommon process) just the right amount of time, and uses a specific scooper so each cookie is round and thick for the perfect balance of crispy outside and chewy inside. The other day, after a family meal, she baked a batch. When they came out of the oven, I knew something was different. They looked a little off. I took a bite, and the taste was off as well. I asked what happened. She smiled and said she’d “tweaked th...
