Top Five Reasons to Attend Connect Europe 2024

6 min Read

It’s that time again – time for the brightest thinkers in the supply chain industry to converge for Connect Europe 2024. In the past, we’ve visited some great cities, learned about some exciting new trends and strategies, and seen old friends (and made a few new ones). This year will be no different.

We’ve got great expectations for 2024. Forget all the talk of disruption and uncertainty – it’s time to move ahead! Connect Europe 2024 will kick off our journey forward into the future, and like every journey, how we get there is as important as where we’re going. And we’re going to get there together!

With that in mind, we’ve decided to compile a list of the five best reasons to attend this year’s event.

1. Amsterdam!

Picturesque, old-world architecture. Charming, cobbled streets. Scenic canals. Rich European history. And bicycles! Bicycles everywhere!

Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most exciting, accessible, and inclusive destinations. In fact, the entire ring of canals has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. With a rich nightlife, historical sites, world-class museums, and cozy coffee shops, Amsterdam is a fascinating city that can easily be explored in many different ways: by foot, by bicycle, and by boat.

Speaking of history, even our accommodation, the Hilton Amsterdam, has seen its share of significant milestones. It was the first international hotel in the Netherlands and was also famously the setting of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “bed-in” for peace in 1969. As if that weren’t enough history and culture, the Hilton Amsterdam is also situated near several world-renowned museums, as well as designer shops, the Vondelpark, and the Concert Hall.

2. Hear from our keynote speaker: Claire Williams OBE.

As one of the most prominent and successful women in recent Formula 1 history, Claire Williams OBE has taken the Williams Formula 1 racing team to successive third places in the Constructors’ Championships in just her second and third years in charge. She also maintained the team’s prominence with top 5 finishes in 2016 and 2017. In fact, her success in Formula 1 saw her appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s 2016 Birthday Honors List.

Inclusion is an important cause for Claire. She has advocated for greater diversity and inclusion within Williams Racing and across the sport as a whole. Her efforts contributed greatly to the inclusion of Susie Wolff as the first female racer to participate in Formula 1 since 1992. Her continued work as the Vice President of the Spinal Injuries Association has encouraged individuals with spinal cord injuries to join the racing team, and she has also worked to establish workplace opportunities for wheelchair users. In April 2023, she launched the Sir Frank Williams Academy, which aims to provide life-changing care for people with spinal cord injuries.

Don’t miss your chance to hear from this incredible executive!

3. Learn about emerging trends and strategies from some of the industry’s thought leaders and experts.

Change is happening at breakneck speed in the supply chain world. At Connect Europe 2024, you’ll have the chance to hear from some of the brightest minds of the e2open network to explore industry trends and discuss technology use cases for achieving next-level business efficiencies and outcomes.

4. A chance to network with your colleagues over breakfast, lunch, dinner, or cocktails.

We have some great content in store for you, but half the fun (and value) of coming to Connect Europe is networking with your peers.

The brightest minds in Europe will be at Connect Europe 2024, so don’t miss your chance to exchange a few business cards. There will be plenty of opportunities, with planned meals, networking sessions, and extracurricular events.

Speaking of which…

5. Three words: Amsterdam. Canal. CRUISE.

No visit to Amsterdam is complete without a delightful canal cruise! While bicycles are a great way to get around, the canal cruise offers a wonderful (and much more hands-free) way to see the city. We’ve planned a cruise for the entire Connect crew, which will be a fun way to spend some time with colleagues while taking in one of Europe’s most charming cities.

We can’t wait to shift into high gear with you and take on the biggest issues facing the industry today. Visit our website to register and learn more about what’s in store at Connect Europe 2024.

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: Reshaping Global Trade for a Greener Future

As the urgency to combat climate change intensifies, the European Union is taking bold steps to create a more sustainable future. One of the most significant initiatives for this is a broader commitment by the EU to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 known as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, or CBAM, which will have far-reaching implications for companies importing goods into the EU. The Port Strike: 5 Ways to Help Manage Large-Scale Disruptions

Thousands of dockworkers along the East and Gulf coasts began a historic strike just after midnight on October 1, 2024. This work stoppage, the first of its kind since 1977, has brought operations to a grinding halt at 14 major ports from Texas to New England, threatening to disrupt the flow of more than half of the nation’s containerized trade. Unlike the major strike in the 70’s, our reliance on the global economy and supply chains is now much greater, so the shutdown is expected to have a wide and immediate impact, from the shortage of everyday items to increased shipping costs, retail prices, and the global transportation infrastructure.
